Maria Montessori’s birthday celebrations in Primary classroom

Maria Montessori’s birthday is on August 31.

She was born in Italy in 1870.

We do a “Celebration of life” in the Montessori way to talk about her life, her achievements &  accomplishments and the wonderful legacy she has left behind.

We make muffins in class to celebrate her birthday.

Last year, we had older children draw a picture of our “Montessori school” and why they like to come to the school and mention their most favorite Montessori material.

We color the flag of “Italy” and pin prick the outline of “Europe” to give children an idea of the geographic location of where she was born.

We use the Math Ten beads to count up her age- this year it will 147 : ’14’ ten bead bars and 1 ‘7’ unit bead.

Stay tuned for pictures !!
