This time of the year – the holidays.
fun but a little stressful too….
gifts for all- should we buy or do hand made ?
This year in our Montessori school , we decided to make a collage book as a gift for the parents.
We took red and green construction paper , alternated them as pattern , put them together by hole punching them and securing them with a ribbon.
The children took their books and worked on them during their work cycle.
They would pin prick holiday outlines or cut papers and glue them in the book, write messages for mom & dad, color with pencils, trace at the light box and glue those images in it etc. Some children even decided to glue their phonetic letter sounds and numbers tracing paper in their book.
We took a picture of each child working on their book and glued it to the cover.
This was a memorable personalized holiday gift for the parents and the child alike.
Almost all of the project was done without the teachers assistance- we only made the book, printed the child’s picture & glued it to the cover. The rest was all the child’s work.
we let the child do whatever they wanted to in their book & parents loved it today when they took their child’s proud work home !!
