Nesting boxes

Nesting boxes are such a utility item- easy to stack & store in the kitchen – but did you know you could use this simple item from your kitchen and engage children in a meaningful , purposeful activity encompassing all parts of the Montessori curriculum.

Practical life: Use it as an extension to “Open & Close” activity.

Sensorial materials: Build towers, bridges, stack them up straight or sidewards , use your imagination and creativity. Can also study the texture and materials of different types of boxes.

Math: Bring out the measuring tape, measure the boxes, learn different units of measurement.

Language: Vocabulary terms like big, small etc; Comparison words like biggest ,smallest; Singular and plural like box, boxes.

Cultural: Different kinds of nesting boxes or nesting dolls like Matryosha dolls from countries in Europe and Asia.
